Head start is an initiative by Atlantic Star Driving School, aiming to eliminate bad driving by teaching good practice to tomorrow’s drivers.
Statistics show its lack of experience that causes so many newly qualified drivers to have accidents. A recent study in Sweden showed that teaching drivers at an earlier age reduced accidents by a staggering 40%.

Course Details
Taster session – 1 Session at 1.5 hours each
A chance to try a single session behind the wheel of a car. Have a go at moving off/stopping. Try steering in and out of junctions, attempt smooth gear changes and enjoy your self.
Stage one – 2 sessions at 1.5 hours each
Stage one covers the skills disciplines and knowledge of forward driving. The two separate sessions involve in car training on a private site covering forward driving skills. The sessions include knowledge of car controls, safety checks, moving off/stopping, changing gears, left and right junction turns, hill starts and all the relevant observational skills. Both sessions involve in-car training.
Stage Two – 2 sessions at 1.5 hours each
Stage two offers two separate sessions, which introduces the turn in the road and reverse maneuvers as well as mastering the skills and disciplines of reversing. Pupils will also have the opportunity to further improve their forward driving skills. Both sessions involve in car training.
Stage Three – 2 sessions at 1.5 hours each
Stage 3 offers 2 separate sessions and allows pupils to practice and improve on all the areas covered in stages 1-2. Pupils will learn to identify and correct errors as and when they occur and advance on the required skills set within the actual driving test. Both sessions involve in car training.
The one to one sessions that we offer can be booked on an individual basis at an hour per session, or if you book a block of 5 sessions you get 1 session FREE. These sessions are structured in the same way as the group course detailed above.

Eco-drivng
“ Eco-driving’ is a specialist driving technique that reduces fuel consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and accident rates.
Here at the Atlantic Star Driving School, we instruct by example; teaching our students to use their car in a safe and environmentally-friendly manner.
Techniques include:
▪ Reducing drag
▪ Rev and speed control
▪ Advanced safety
The average annual mileage for drivers is 12,000 miles. Typically, this would cost approximately £1,272 (10.6 pence x 12,000). Eco-friendly costs, as taught by Atlantic Star, are, on average, £840 (7p x 12,000). That’s a saving of £432!

(the voucher does not have an expiry date so may be used at any future relevant time)

If you are aged between 13 and 17 years, 1.5 mtrs 4ft 11inchs tall then we will happily put you behind the wheel of one our dualed control cars.
We want to make good driving fashionable by offering real life skills in real cars (no simulators)
Knowledge to last for a life time!
The in-car group training helps to develop the individual character of each pupil and encourages them to work together. The course is designed and structured to make an effective training programme and to be fun at the same time.
For pupils who would prefer to train individually
We offer 1 2 1 1hr sessions.
Because we are a local based driving school we can offer HEADSTART as an all in one package, from pre-driver training to on road tuition, and test preparation in a friendly and family run training environment.
